I joined a PUG with Raven today for the daily heroic. Her professions are Inscription and Leatherworking (yeah, I know…an odd combination). A few mobs in one of the Inscription books dropped and I rolled need and won. I used it straight away so there could be no question that I’d ninja’d it to sell when all hell broke loose and I was accused of being a ninja anyway. The snarky remarks continued so I left the group and hearthed. Was I wrong to roll need? Obviously I don’t think so, it was something I could use (and did), to me BoE or BoP is irrelevant. I’d be interested in what other people think.

If it’s something you need, that you will use, the I say you did the right thing and rolled need. It’s only different from other crafting recipes because you can sell it on, but as far as I think it’s a profession thing and if you have that profession then you can roll need. Once you’ve learned all the books you can, then you should roll greed, imo.
That was my feeling too. I wouldn’t have rolled need for it on any of my other characters.
Woah, why did they accuse you of being a ninja? I’m genuinely confused. Even if something is BoP and can be sold (like a book of glyph mastery), if there’s an inscriber in the group who actually can use it they totally get need priority.
Yeah, I was a bit taken aback! I hate dumping a group (and apart from that, for a PUG it was OK) but the snide remarks were getting on my nerves
