Does My Bum Look Big in This?

Dimity

Dimity has hit Outland. On Monday night a friend with a level 60 rogue asked me if I wanted to try tanking the Ramparts. I jumped at the chance and accepted the invite. He whispered me, asking me to put on my tanking set and I replied that I was wearing my tanking set. He was surprised at how low my hp was. Now normally I’d have accepted the remark rationally, and discussed it like a grown up but Monday was not a normal day for me. Last week I worked 6 12-hour night shifts because the team following mine on nights was short-handed. I finished on Sunday morning and got up after just 4 hours sleep. I slept really well on Sunday night but still felt like I’d been hit by a train on Monday. Felling like a bear with a sore head doesn’t even begin to describe it. This rogue is a very good online friend of mine that I’ve played with for 2 years now, there’s no way his comment was meant to be snippy or critical in a demeaning way. What did I do? Told him to find another tank and logged off on a huff and shut down Skype*sigh* Read the rest of this entry »

Blizzard Authenticator (EU)

The authenticator is now available at Blizzard’s EU Store.  The price is €6 which translates to £4.80; the bad news is the shipping charge.  I selected standard shipping and, with tax, the shipping charge comes to £7.62!!  That brings the total to £12.42 *gulps*

Aaaaaaagh!

There was much tearing of hair and gnashing of teeth this afternoon *sigh*  Last night Dimity dinged 60 so today I decided to get on with the quest chain for her epic mount.  I had the cash I needed (just!) and most of the mats already put by.  The first thing I needed to get was Holy Water from Strat.  A level 70 priest volunteered to help me get it and after a sticky start (bad pull on my part), we aced it.  Next was the spirit horse in Dire Maul West.  By this time the priest had logged off and no-one else in my guild was biting so I got into LFG.  I was in luck; there was a level 60 paladin with a level 70 hunter already in there.  They invited me to join them and I headed for Feralas as fast as I could.  By the time I arrived they had already cleared the way to the big tree mob we needed to kill and 2 minutes later it was dead.  I couldn’t believe my luck! At Last!

Hulan on her new epic flying mount

At last, Hulan has her epic flying mount! Winífred can cease the wholesale slaughter on the Isle of Quel’Danas and make a start massacring fire elementals in Shadowmoon Valley for the 36 Primal Fire that Élen needs to craft her epic set. Élen can also grind the 20 extra Primal Shadow that are needed and the various leathers. Dimity can drag herself out of the Inn and get to work questing and levelling. One of these days I might get a day off too ;)

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall….

…who is the saddest of them all? Would it be me, with my 4 level 70s or the player who can’t be bothered to level another character and asked me if I would trade my level 56 paladin for a level 70 mage?

How Much?!

I think the Blizzard authenticator is a great idea.  I’d love to get one.  If I was in the US I could order it from the Blizzard store for $6.50 (which equates to €4.12 / £3.26).  However I’m in Europe and according to Blizzard’s EU store, they’ve sold out.  Not only that they’ve gone a bit nuts with the price too; here in the EU we get to pay €6 or £6.  Maybe it’s a good job I can’t get one, I’d be so mad that someone in their accounting department priced these at “Let’s call it six, uhm, whatever.  Dollars, Euros, Pounds sterling.  Same difference yes?”  I was perusing the EU forums earlier, a player from Eastern Europe claimed that if he pays €6 for his authenticator, Blizzard will charge him €30 to package it and deliver it.   Madness!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

No, I haven’t died although I’ve had the worst cold I’ve had in a long time for that last week. You know the saying “First you were afraid you’d die, then you were afraid you wouldn’t”? That pretty much sums up how I’ve been feeling. I’m on the mend now though and have spent the last few days just pottering in WoW.

Up to now Dimity has been a miner and skinner and I decided to take the plunge and power-level her with enchanting and jewelcrafting. Enchanting wasn’t so bad, I DE’d everything I made with jewelcrafting and sent my mage on a few massacre runs of Deadmines and Scarlet Monastery; in addition a guildie was power levelling his leatherworking so I bought all the greens he made off him. Today I had to spend a couple of hundred gold on Dream Dust and Illusion Dust but hit 300 enchanting today.

Jewelcrafting was a bit more of a slog. I used a power-levelling guide that was on the WoW forums but it was a little out-of-date. The worst was when it said I needed 210 thorium bars. My mining Druid hit the Burning Steppes and went round and round and round until I had enough. I smelted it and put it all in the mail only to realise after I actually needed less than 1/3 of that amount. What is really annoying is that I’m stuck at 296 because I can’t get hold of Huge Emeralds for love nor money. If I hadn’t smelted all the thorium I maybe could have prospected it to get some *sighs*

In other new Ravenwynd got a nice gear boost last night. She went on a guild Kara run and we did a full clear. In addition to 22 badges she got Uni-Mind Headdress, Brooch of Unquenchable Fury, Spectral Band of Innervation, Ring of Recurrence and The Lightning Capacitor. Not a bad haul!

Epic Story-Telling

Recently BBB mentioned that he started writing his blog to improve his writing skills. Well today he posted the first 3 instalments of a story he’s writing and while I have no idea what his writing skills were like before, I can only say his that his story is very well-written and just bloody good! From now on he will be posting an update on Friday and I for one am waiting with bated breath for the next instalment.

Cool!

Resto4Life posted a link to Gank Frank and I’m still giggling :) I love Kill Bill and I think this WoW-flavoured spoof is both brilliant and hilarious!

In other news, I just discovered another Moonglader via Blog Azeroth; how cool is that?! Of all the WoW blogs I’ve come across, very few are written by EU players so the chances of coming across a blogger from the same server is pretty small. Go and say “Hi” to Nalik at Feather Duster and see Moonglade from the Horde’s perspective. Even cooler, he’s a Boomkin.

And Now For Something Completely Different

I was over at Big Bear’s, tapping my feet to the music he posted there and I was intrigued by the mp3 player he had in his post. If I can click something, I will! I decided to have a try at uploading and posting my own offering. This is from an album I often listen to when in Kara, it helps to keep my blood pressure low, hehe. It’s great “unwinding” music. The album and the band are called Taffetas
